An epic relationship of trust and strategic planning in banking

In 1973, US Bank first engaged Kahler Slater to design the US Bank Center building, the 40-story tower on the lakefront of Lake Michigan. Then in 1996, an ongoing relationship between the two organizations began. No longer solely serving as US Bank’s architect, Kahler Slater has taken on a strategic role in advising the bank in its best use of all its real estate holdings throughout the United States. This consulting relationship is so integral to US Bank’s operations that a Kahler Slater staff member is assigned to an office within US Bank’s headquarters.

Because of Kahler Slater’s understanding of the unique needs of the banking industry, the firm has been able to offer these services to US Bank: master planning strategies, facility assessment, programming, space planning, interior design and construction, as well as documentation and administrative services. Over 4 million square feet of US Bank real estate information from across the United States and Canada are retained as digital files in Kahler Slater’s server.

A sample of recent projects includes creating the national finish standards for 3,000 local branch locations, a unifying customer communications program, a parking structure with wayfinding program and a new 90,000 square foot customer service center.
