Kahler Slater designed the original 60,000 square foot Tri-County YMCA facility. Facilities include: swimming pool, saunas, whirlpools, four handball/racquetball courts, gymnasium with suspended jogging track, four locker rooms, exercise areas, baby-sitting areas, offices and multi-purpose meeting rooms. The facility was recognized with a design award by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Wisconsin.
Due to growth in the community and the popularity of the Tri-County YMCA, a major addition was first studied, then designed by Kahler Slater and opened in January 2002. The 20,000 square foot addition includes a family/instructional pool, a family gymnasium, a "Family Prime Time Center," multi-purpose areas and modification of program spaces for child care, children's gyms, etc. The new addition has helped the Tri-County YMCA to exceed membership goals, with membership now at over 10,000 members. To meet an increased demand for fitness space, the Tri-County YMCA recently transformed their existing gymnasium into a new 10,000 square foot wellness center. A mezzanine was integrated with additional equipment and easier access for members. The existing fitness center was remodeled into a large multi-purpose studio and a dedicated spinning room. As a part of this renovation, the family lockers rooms were also expanded.
