The inspiration for the University of Wisconsin women’s hockey facility came from the desire to provide the women and men’s team a “home for hockey.” The space is designed to provide the best possible experience for the student athletes, resulting in success both on and off the ice. The facility is connected to the Kohl Center, where the women play, and will provide a new on-site men’s practice facility as well as a practice and performance arena for the women’s team. This “home for hockey” design includes locker rooms for the men and women’s hockey and swim team as well as visiting teams and coaches, lounges, team meeting spaces, training and sports medicine areas and offices. The facility also includes event space with capacity for 2,500 and support spaces including press accommodations, ice floor support facilities and swimming team suites. These amenities provide the teams with space to practice, study, train and build lifelong relationships with one another that translate to success on and off the ice.
