Kahler Slater Announces Leadership Promotions

The following individuals have been promoted for their strong leadership with major client projects, key strategic firm initiatives and service to the community. These leaders live the Kahler Slater core values and bring passion to their work. Each person directly contributes to making Kahler Slater a great place to work and partners with our clients to make the Kahler Slater purpose of “enriching life through artful design” a reality every day!

Kelly Gaglione

Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President, Kelly works closely with the firm’s executive officers, Jim Rasche and George Meyer, to lead the firm. Kelly is responsible for the firm’s overall strategic planning, and oversees branding, PR, marketing, and new business development for the firm. Kelly has played a strategic role on the firm’s Health Care Team for years and has been fortunate to work with many Health Care clients. Kelly has developed a personal passion for improving life for our aging population and recently received a Graduate Certificate in Applied Gerontology from UW-Milwaukee. Kelly also enjoys running/hiking and taking scenic road trips with her husband.

Al Krueger AIA, ACHA, EDAC

Vice President

Al is a leader of Kahler Slater’s Health Care Team. He has developed a reputation for building strong client relationships and successfully leading some of Kahler Slater’s most complex projects. Al served as Principal-in-Charge for the Martha Jefferson Hospital project, which was named the Most Beautiful Hospital by Soliant in 2012. Al is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Architects and the Lean Construction Institute. Al loves design and construction craft where he has done almost everything from laying stone to fine carpentry.

Dan Morgan AIA, EDAC

Vice President

Dan is a leader of Kahler Slater’s Health Care Team and has dedicated his career to planning, design and project management for health care clients. Dan recently served as Principal-in-Charge for the Sauk Prairie Hospital project, which was named a 2014 Top Project by The Daily Reporter and recently received a Silver Award from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) in Wisconsin. Dan leads many operations and staffing initiatives at the firm. He is also very involved in his community and currently serves on his town’s Architectural Board. Dan and his wife mentor their son’s school robotic team.

Glenn Roby AIA

Vice President

Glenn serves as a leader for our Business Environments Team. As an expert in commercial design, he is sought out for his insights on workplace strategies, design trends and commercial real estate activities. When he isn’t busy traveling to meet with clients, leading the 18-story 833 East office tower project, speaking at a conference or checking in on one of our many hotel or housing projects, Glenn can be found at his daughter’s Irish dance competitions or enjoying the East Tosa bar and restaurant scene with his wife, Darla.

Jennifer Schlimgen AIA

Vice President

As an integral part of the Health Care Team, Jennifer is a leader of our Experience Design philosophy and specializes in working with clients to establish a project’s direction by facilitating interactive pre-design activities, including visioning workshops and other unique events. She assists clients with special communications, such as philanthropic support to achieve fundraising goals. Jennifer enjoys writing whitepapers and blogs as a thought leader for our Health Care Team. She also is an avid gardener and loves incorporating this passion in her work through her collaborations on landscape design. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys kayaking and almost anything happening on the water.

Larry Schnuck AIA

Vice President

As Vice President and an award-winning designer, Larry leads Kahler Slater’s Higher Education Team. With his professional expertise in design, specifically focused on medical, dental, nursing and allied health environments, Larry has developed a team with a sought-after national practice whose work has enabled colleges and universities around the country to provide unique, active-learning environments for their students. Larry has presented both regionally and nationally. He has been published on the topic of medical education environments and the best ways to adapt these for the changing trends in health care education, incorporating the expectations of the millennial generation. Despite his busy travel schedule, Larry enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, skiing, golfing and photography.

Adam Bastjan AIA

Associate Principal

Adam has dedicated much of his career to our Higher Education and Sports/Wellness Teams and earned a reputation as a talented architect and designer. Recently, Adam designed the award-winning hockey facility – the LaBahn Arena at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His expertise in athletics, recreation and wellness has enabled us to provide our clients with spaces that motivate and inspire people to be active. Adam has regularly served as an adjunct professor and guest critic at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning and helps to lead several of our firm’s design and technology initiatives. Adam plays hockey regularly and spends most of his free time exploring Milwaukee with his kids in tow.

Rhiannon Blawat CPA

Associate Principal

As Kahler Slater’s controller, Rhiannon is responsible for the firm’s cash management and leads the Finance Team. Every day, she drives key finance projects that support the firm’s strategic plan. Recognized by the Wisconsin Institute for Certified Public Accountants for her volunteerism, she and her husband spend time together serving as youth group leaders at their church and on the board of their sons’ youth football club. As a mom of 10-year old twins and a 7-year old, there is never a dull moment in the Blawat household.

Barbara Jahncke CPSM

Associate Principal

As a leader of our Business Environments Team, Barbara facilitates Experience Design visioning workshops and leads marketing strategy and business planning for our corporate, hospitality and multi-family housing markets. Barbara recently facilitated a national think tank regarding the future of the workplace. In her spare time, Barbara serves as president of the Society for Marketing Professional Services – Wisconsin. As an athlete and outdoor enthusiast, Barbara recently completed the Tough Mudder and ran her first marathon. This summer she is planning a few family camping adventures and hopes to work on her golf game.

Since joining Kahler Slater in 2000, Scott has worked as a project architect on a wide variety of higher education, sports/wellness and health care projects. His depth of experience has established Scott as a firm resource for architectural and construction processes – and an invaluable member of the Higher Education and Sports/Wellness Teams. Scott helps to ensure our entire firm stays healthy, serving as a leader of our Wellness Committee and coach for our softball team, the AC Slaters. When not safeguarding accuracy for our college, university and YMCA clients, Scott enjoys golf, racquetball, downhill skiing and time with his family.

Chris Ludwig AIA

Associate Principal

Known for his creativity, craft and attention to detail, Chris is a skilled designer on our Higher Education Team. His designs have been recognized for excellence by both the AIA and several higher education industry publications. Chris also serves as a design champion for our entire firm, leading design critiques, enhancing tools and sharing to ensure we are providing excellent design solutions to our clients. Chris has served as adjunct professor in the past and currently stays involved with the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UW-Milwaukee as a guest critic. Chris enjoys frequenting Milwaukee’s Estabrook Beer Garden and always entertains great conversation, design-related or otherwise.

Eric Mayne AIA, RIBA

Associate Principal

Eric is not only a lead designer on our Health Care Team but also champions Kahler Slater’s Ambulatory Care Design initiative. Eric has presented nationally on the topic of ambulatory care, and has been recently published for his whitepaper on ambulatory care design trends. Eric spent 10 years working in London as a registered architect and member of the Royal Institute of British Architects before joining Kahler Slater, and brings his strong international experience to every project. Eric likes to travel with his family and immerse himself in new and unique environments and cultures. On a typical vacation, you may find Eric cycling along a remote mountain range or shopping at an urban street market.

Drives the performance of his/her business or operational team, through his/her outstanding broad, proactive and future-oriented team leadership. All of the newly named Vice Presidents along with our Executive Team are charged with forwarding the firm's long-term strategic plan.

Associate Principal
APs are the primary drivers of projects (externally-focused) and initiatives (internally-focused) at Kahler Slater. An AP is a communicator and facilitator who readily employs and shares his/her expertise while orchestrating a team to successfully deliver on our promises for his/her current projects.
