Public-Private Partnership focuses on providing cutting-edge nursing education

Union Square
Nursing Education Building

Greensboro, North Carolina

The partnership between the City of Greensboro, Guilford Technical Community College, University of North Carolina – Greensboro, North Carolina A&T and health care partner Cone Health offers medical students a unique educational experience to come together at the Union Square campus's Nursing Education Building. The Public-Private Partnership (P3) brings the institutions together to realize a common goal to turn Greensboro into a major hub for nursing and health education. Kahler Slater served as the nursing education architect in partnership with Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates to design the first building on this campus.

Between 400-600 nursing students from the various colleges come together in the Nursing Education Building along with continuing education students. Stakeholders from each institution collaborated to design the facility with a goal to complement programs and maximize shared space. A state-of-the-art healthcare simulation center supports these programs and is utilized for physician and EMT training, research and for the testing of medical devices. The first building includes program spaces to support a new Doctor of Nursing Practice and Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
