The Marshfield Area YMCA and Gro Development are currently partnered with Kahler Slater to design and construct an expansion and renovation to their existing facility in order to better serve their growing community. The expansion will feature a new school age center for youth, new child care facilities, fieldhouse, social gathering spaces, renovated exercise rooms and new equipment. Special care was given to design an experience which uniquely serves this area in central Wisconsin. Partnerships with the Marshfield Clinic Health System, Wood County Head Start and the Marshfield School District were formed in order to provide a full range of services at the Y.
The expansion and renovation will allow more guests to visit the facility. The new fieldhouse will provide indoor court/field sports, as well as a running track and expanded opportunities for team sports and sporting events. A state-of-the-art Healthy Living Center, wellness consultation and fitness testing rooms encourage individuals at all fitness levels to participate. New social gathering areas will encourage conversation and social interaction between community members. Studies have shown that strong social ties can have a direct and positive impact on health and contribute to the prevention of chronic disease. These gathering areas are especially important for seniors and families alike.
