Located in Madison’s historic Mansion Hill district, 124 E Gorham transforms an underutilized site into a 22-unit residential development that integrates new design with preservation. The project combines two existing historic structures, including an 1863 carriage house, into a cohesive living environment, restoring and reprogramming them. By balancing density with historic sensitivity, the design reinforces the character of the neighborhood while introducing contemporary housing in a highly walkable downtown location. The result is a layered architectural response that celebrates Madison’s past while supporting its continued urban growth.
