Kahler Slater is featured in Libby Gill's book Capture the Mindshare and the Market Share Will Follow: The Art and Science of Building Brands, discussing the importance of building a compelling brand based on emotional connection, authentic value and flawless delivery. Gill highlights architecture firm Kahler Slater as doing just this when working with San Juan Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) to create a new hospital experience. The book discusses how Kahler Slater and SJRMC take the idea of collaboration literally, by meeting for visioning sessions and recurring design team meetings, always creating a space for open dialogue coupled with mutual respect of everyone involved.
Jennifer Schlimgen, architect and "Experience Designer" at Kahler Slater, recalls that there had been two referendums for the community to share in the costs of the hospital expansion, and both had failed. "So it was their third try at getting the tax passed. We created a video to make the case for the community, involved community groups and engaged people throughout the area. On the third try, the referendum won in a landslide!" Gill's comments highlight that because of Kahler Slater's collaborative efforts and creativity-driven ideas, the San Juan Regional Medical Center was able to achieve their ideal hospital experience with Kahler Slater through authentic value and flawless delivery.
