St. Croix Health Breaks Ground on a New Critical Access Hospital and Clinic

July 8, 2026

St. Croix Health has officially broken ground on a new state-of-the-art Critical Access Hospital and Clinic in St. Croix Falls, WI, marking an exciting milestone in its more than 100-year commitment to caring for the community.

The project is made possible in part by funding secured through the USDA, helping bring this vital investment in rural healthcare to life. In partnership with Kahler Slater and contractor Market & Johnson, the new campus will elevate the patient experience while providing staff with modern functionality, improved workflow, and enhanced care delivery spaces.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of the region, the new facility will include 25 inpatient beds and offer a comprehensive range of services, including advanced imaging and diagnostics, laboratory testing, surgical and specialty care units, and cardiac rehabilitation. Many existing outpatient services will also transition to the new campus, creating a more seamless and convenient experience for patients.

Thoughtfully planned to support modern healthcare delivery, the design emphasizes patient-centered care, clinical efficiency, improved access, and staff wellbeing—ensuring St. Croix Health continues to positively impact the community for generations to come.

Completion is anticipated in 2018.

“"This is more than the start of a construction project, it is a commitment to our community, our providers, our partners, and our employees."”
