YMCA of the Northwoods Celebrates Grand Opening of the Flambeau River Branch

May 12, 2025

The YMCA of the Northwoods held a grand opening to commemorate the opening of the new Flambeau River Branch in Park Falls, WI. Located in the former city hall building, the state-of-the-art facility provides the community with increased access to childcare and youth programs, support for the senior population, and community spaces where people can gather, connect, and lead healthier lives.

The new building was designed to be an inclusive center for people of all ages and abilities. A primary focus of the facility is a 24/7 health and wellness center with strength, cardio and functional training equipment, a walking track, gymnasium, and a fitness studio with group exercise classes. An early learning childcare center will serve between 50-60 children from birth to 5 years old due to an increased need for childcare services in the area. The building also includes community gathering spaces, multi-purpose rooms, locker rooms, and office spaces.

“We are thrilled to open this new YMCA branch in Park Falls. This facility will not only offer top-notch fitness equipment and programs but also serve as a hub for community engagement, creating opportunities for individuals to connect, grow, and thrive,” said Scott Schultz, Executive Director of the Flambeau River YMCA.

Kahler Slater and Miron Construction designed and delivered this project along with many other partners including GRO Development, MSA Professional Services, Salas O'Brien, and ERA Engineering.
