Designed by Kahler Slater, the $107 million, 42-bed acute care facility will elevate the standard of care across the community. The compact, efficient design places inpatient beds above a diagnostics and clinical podium, integrating seamlessly into the existing campus while maintaining uninterrupted operations during construction. With services ranging from general surgery and intensive care to a modern emergency department, dialysis suite, and helipad, the hospital will serve as a comprehensive hub for patient-centered care.

The architecture reflects both the Sentara brand and the local heritage, with warm wood tones, brick inlays, and metal accents that connect the facility to its surroundings. Inside, natural light, private patient rooms, and space for overnight guests foster a healing environment. Purpose-built expansion zones will ensure the hospital can grow alongside the community it serves. This new facility will play a dynamic part of the region’s healthcare landscape, designed to attract top-tier medical professionals and improve quality of life for generations to come.

The facility is scheduled to open in summer 2026 and is being delivered in partnership with W. M. Jordan Company.
