WVU Medicine partnered with Kahler Slater to expand their Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV, supporting the region's growth by broadening access to care, consolidating outpatient services, and enhancing the patient experience.

The project includes a new 80,000-square-foot, three-story ambulatory care building connected to the existing hospital. Positioned along Lancaster Circle, the addition creates a new front door for the campus with an improved arrival experience, convenient parking, and a stronger community presence. Program spaces include expanded imaging, laboratory and ancillary services, centralized registration, a multi-specialty outpatient clinic, and shelled space to accommodate future growth.

The project also introduces a dedicated Oncology & Infusion Center in partnership with the WVU Cancer Institute, bringing expanded cancer care services closer to home for residents of the Eastern Panhandle. Located on the third floor of the existing hospital, the center includes infusion services, an expanded pharmacy, and new windows that increase daylight and enhance the patient environment.

Additional improvements include a new landscaped courtyard for patients, visitors, and staff, as well as a consolidated materials management area that streamlines campus operations.

Architecturally, the addition builds on the existing campus through thoughtful brick detailing, stone-clad stair towers, angled cornice elements, and a distinctive glass entry volume. The design reflects the civic role of the hospital while creating patient-centered environments aligned with the WVU Medicine brand.

The Oncology & Infusion Center is anticipated to open in 2027, with the new ambulatory care building scheduled to welcome patients in early 2028.
