To accommodate growth and changes in nursing education, Pittsburg State University hired Kahler Slater and Clark Huesemann for this important project. The new addition and renovation to the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing will provide teaching and learning spaces tuned to the future, with space for students to experience hands-on learning in state-of-the-art simulation environments.
The project includes a 10,000 square foot addition, plus targeted renovations to the existing building that can accommodate cohorts of 120 students. The program features four new hospital simulation labs within the simulation hospital, control rooms, a debriefing room, a waiting area, active learning classroom, study spaces, a computerized classroom testing center, and modernization of existing spaces to maximize efficient and flexible use of this central campus facility. The expansion is designed to be a highly visible, well-defined entrance, drawing students, faculty, staff, and visitors into the re-imagined building.
