Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire Birth Center

Eau Claire, Wisconsin

With special considerations to views, patient comfort, and staff needs, the Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire Birth Center offers amenities and opportunities for the family to participate in the caregiving experience. Starting with safety in mind, the OB/GYN clinic is connected to the Birth Center to reduce time when transport is needed. Once at the Birth Center, triage begins with private Evaluation rooms that lead directly into Prep and Recovery rooms and the C-Section suite. Labor and Delivery rooms include whirlpool tubs, space for family, and patient controls for lighting, temperature, and patient portal system. To reduce stress, procedural technology is integrated but hidden from patient view. Large Postpartum rooms with views of nature include showers and space for visitors with four rooms having queen-size beds. The adjacent Level II NICU has private and twin rooms that support visits from inpatient moms. A Meditation room, Family Kitchen, Resource Center, and Porch featuring operable windows at the end of each wing provides options for family respite, connection, and views of the lake and park. Robust off-stage staff circulation systems increase caregiver and provider efficiency while minimizing unnecessary disruption, activity, and noise in patient care areas.
