Formerly known as The Park East Hotel, the 5-story, 159 room property at 916 East State Street in Milwaukee was converted into 96 luxury apartments. The Juneau Park area has been densely populated for over 100 years and project partners Klein Development and Millennial Partners saw it as an exciting opportunity to meet the growing housing demand while restoring an existing building in desperate need of help.
The building received an extensive façade upgrade, as well as an additional floor. The new 6th story features a mix of penthouse apartments with private balconies, a community room, and a rooftop deck for use by all tenants and their guests. Rooftop visitors and residents on the south and east of the building will enjoy unobstructed views of Lake Michigan, which are preserved by Juneau Park directly across the street. Contributing to the charm of the neighborhood, the building includes an 8,500 square national café.
Units are a blend of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms with open floor plans, large windows, exposed concrete ceilings and in-unit laundry. First-floor and penthouse units are townhomes offering direct exterior access, and all units have on-site parking, and designated storage lockers in the basement.
