Located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia Tech’s campus spans 400 acres and serves over 51,000 students. With campus enrollment projected to continue growing and student needs evolving, Georgia Tech hired Kahler Slater to develop a campus recreation master plan. As existing facilities have become increasingly strained by demand and inadequate to serve the campus community at the level of excellence required, the master plan supports Campus Recreation's mission and identifies opportunities to better support student wellbeing, foster connection, and enhance the recreation experience for the Georgia Tech community.

The final recreation master plan re-envisions existing indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and explores future space opportunities that maximize the quality, quantity, and variety of recreation programming and services available on campus. The master plan also explores collaborations with other campus services including Housing, Student Health Services, and Student Engagement and Well-being. Kahler Slater also developed an interactive engagement survey to help understand how students are using current recreation facilities and programming, their interests, and what they hope to see in additional recreation programming.
