Kahler Slater provided Luther College with a study and concept design to review the future of aquatics and recreation in the Decorah area in order to plan for year-round recreation and exercise space for students, families and community residents of all ages. The study included gathering data from numerous public and targeted meetings over a one-week period. A conceptual design of the facility has been created based on the data gathered along with estimated costs of construction and operation.

The design of the facility will allow for a multitude of activities including a competition and leisure pool, multi-activity courts, fitness space, running track, and small multi-activity classrooms. These flexible spaces provide various opportunities for people of all ages to engage with one another in healthy activities.
