The Kahler Slater + Populous team was selected to partner with the Village of Ashwaubenon, Brown County, and PMI, to design a new $93m Brown County Expo Center adjacent to the Green Bay Packers’ Lambeau Field and connecting to the existing Resch Center. Scheduled to open in 2021, the Expo Center is expected to be a catalyst for the continued growth in the area; attracting new events, jobs and revenue.
Designers understood the project's versatility and location make it an opportunity to tie together the newly developed Titletown District, Lambeau Field, and surrounding area, creating a cohesive Entertainment District. The new plaza will host a number of outdoor events throughout the year including enhancing the game day experience. Therefore, the team intentionally focused the design on the ability to provide flexible spaces to accommodate a wide range of indoor and outdoor events of varying scale, creating activation throughout the year. The 125,000 sf Expo Hall will build on their current business partners, seeking to host additional exposition, entertainment, indoor and outdoor sports, commerce, private and public community events. Additionally, the updated plaza creates a stage for a Veteran’s Memorial, anchoring the memorial, and enhancing the memorial experience.
Over the course of 10 years, the new expo center is predicted to bring in roughly $130 million in revenue.
