Kahler Slater Celebrates AIA Wisconsin Design Award wins

October 31, 2025

Kahler Slater recently celebrated two winning projects at AIA Wisconsin’s 2025 Design Awards Gala.

The Adria in Madison, WI, won a Merit Award. This compact, lakefront residential building with sculptural façade was completed with Knothe & Bruce Architects. Floor-to-ceiling glass, landscaped rooftop decks, a pool terrace, and green roof zones foster seamless indoor-outdoor connections, bringing nature into daily life.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chemistry Building also won a Merit Award. This design, completed with CannonDesign, replaced a 50-year-old, brutalist facility and anchors a newly envisioned STEM quad on the southwest corner of campus. The building’s dynamic façade, featuring vertical fins and shifting massing, and the interior “braid”-inspired spine reinforce visual and physical connections between labs, classrooms, and breakout spaces, aligning the architectural form with the building’s collaborative program.

We are always so grateful to our clients who trust us to work alongside them to build these spaces where people work, play, live, and learn. Congratulations to our teams who worked on these amazing projects and thank you to AIA Wisconsin for the recognition.
