Milwaukee’s First Universally and Accessible Playground Celebrates Groundbreaking

Ground has officially been broken on Stella’s Playground, Milwaukee’s first universally and accessible playground. Designed to give children of all abilities an opportunity to play together, the park goes beyond accessibility to deliver a welcoming and engaging experience for everyone. Kahler Slater and RA Smith are proud to partner on a project that demonstrates how thoughtful design can foster connection, belonging, and joy for the entire community.

The playground is inspired by 10-year-old Stella, who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. It will feature inclusive basketball courts, accessible recreation spaces, musical features, and creative play spaces for exploration.
