More than 6,300 students call the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS) their academic home at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The new Morgridge Hall, designed by Kahler Slater and LMN architects, is featured in a recent article by In Business Madison.
Eight-stories tall, 343,000 SF, and designed for LEED Platinum Plus certification, the building increases the school's capacity and amplifies cross-curriculum collaboration while minimizing its carbon footprint.
Wisconsin landforms provided inspiration “from the building form, to its terracing, all the way down to the materials and textures that were created." (Chris Ludwig, Associate Principal and Senior Designer). With 20 research groups, a student classroom capacity of over 1000, and multiple disciplines sharing one space, it was important to create continuity throughout the design. “How people actually navigate through the building as part of their experience on campus was really important."
