Kahler Slater's Sports + Recreation team was honored to receive a Facility of Merit Award at this year's Athletic Business Show in Orlando, Florida for our work on the addition and renovation to the YMCA Oshkosh Downtown Center. As part of the conference, Kahler Slater's Jeff Piette participated in a panel discussion with other Facility of Merit award winners to discuss the strategies and design decisions which help distinguish an award-winning facility.
Recognized for its planning and design excellence, the renovation and addition project sought to provide the YMCA with an opportunity to grow membership and usage of their Downtown Center location. Since opening in 2018, memberships jumped 38% and facility usage has skyrocketed up 77%.
