The YMCA Early Learning Center at Sentara Martha Jefferson Celebrates Grand Opening
January 20, 2026We're excited to celebrate the recent opening of the YMCA Early Learning Center at Sentara Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Kahler Slater worked with Sentara Health Martha Jefferson Hospital, the Piedmont Family YMCA and Lantz Construction Company to bring this much‑needed resource to the Pantops campus, helping address the region’s urgent childcare needs.
The center will serve up to 148 children under age five, with priority enrollment for SMJH team members and first responders. With extended hours designed around healthcare shift schedules, this project supports work/life balance, strengthens caregiver recruitment and retention, and helps meet a broader community need.
